The truth is that healthy adult development includes getting your psychological needs met in skillful ways. In doing this you not only survive, you thrive.

Look at the list above and answer the following questions.

Are your 20 Healthy Needs being met?

If not, how might you get them met?

Look for examples of things and experiences that bring you meaning, satisfaction, and joy. Look to work, relationships, and hobbies.

Ask yourself what emotions these experiences generate in you. Love, competence, security, positive emotions, being seen, being heard, validation, contentment, excitement.

Identifying your needs will explain why you think, feel, and act the way that you do. It will also boost your motivation to change the way you are currently getting them met.
