Do you equate your self-esteem with your productivity?

You have inherent worth and value.

I.A.L.A.C. – I Am Lovable And Capable

The acronym I.A.L.A.C. stands for “I am lovable and capable.” Imagine the infinity symbol: the left circle of the infinity symbol represents “I am lovable” and the right circle represents “I am capable.”

Most people crank on “I am capable” and starve the “I am lovable” side. The limiting belief is to value only those things that are productive and revenue-generating. This leads to overworking, overfunctioning, neglecting self-maintenance, and not being present.

EXAMPLE

Jessica is a dedicated and dependable employee. She prides herself on being reliable. She got sick with a fever and cough. “I’m not that sick. I’ll go into work, and if I’m not feeling better by noon, I’ll go home.” Her “capable” muscle is overdeveloped. She believes that a sick day was not productive.

I asked her, “What do you tell your children when they are sick and can’t go to basketball practice?”

She said, “Your body needs to rest in order to get better. Your team needs you healthy.”

DO THIS.

Accept what is.

  • Time off is a necessary part of life.
  • Learn how to be with your life as it is, not how you would like it to be.

Let 3 people off the hook today. The first one is you.

  • Focus on building a habit of giving yourself a break. This allows you to spend your energy more productively.

Jessica faced her fear, acted as if she believed she was lovable, stayed home, and rested.

In order to achieve happiness and success, balance “I am capable” with “I am lovable.”
