When was the last time you gave yourself a break?šŸ˜¬

You Are Magnificent!

Do you believe you are magnificentā€”without any qualifiers?

A qualifier goes like this: ā€œIā€™ll be magnificent when I get that bonus, lose weight, or clean out my closet.ā€

Does it feel like bragging if you tell yourself youā€™re magnificent? Itā€™s not, but it may feel like it is. Many of us were taught to put ourselves last and, as a consequence, we attract feelings of being unworthy and undeserving.

How to change the mental framework (qualifiers) about yourself –
Give yourself an A+ today in every area of your life.

Whatā€™s getting in the way? Hereā€™s a sample of answers I hear from my clients:

  • ā€œI have to earn my A+. I canā€™t just believe I deserve it.ā€
  • ā€œIt has to be hard and take a long time.ā€
  • ā€œDoing this exercise wonā€™t work.ā€

Translation: ā€œI donā€™t want to be disappointed, or feel stupid and unlovable.ā€ In other words, ā€œI am unworthy.ā€

We donā€™t even realize when we stop ourselves from doing what we want, no matter what other names we call unworthinessā€”ā€œIā€™m afraid, feel guilty or feel shame.ā€ ā€œIā€™m selfish.ā€ ā€œI donā€™t deserve this.ā€

Most people believe that worthiness is something you earn by what you do, how you look, how much money you make, or how much you weigh.

The impact of this limiting belief is significant:

  • We drive ourselves harder
  • We neglect our own careā€”skipping meals, not getting enough sleep, overworking, overcommitting, not taking vacations, or taking vacations and not being present, not celebrating our successes, doing more just to feel enough, or trying to show the world you have it all together.

People who believe they deserve and are worthy of self-love and self-acceptance experience happier lives:

  • They have lower rates of anxiety and depression
  • They take more risks
  • They are more resilient

Worthiness is the belief that you have inherent worth and valueā€”just as you are. No prerequisites, no qualifiers. Worthiness is an as-is, here-and-now proposition.

Answer the following question.

ā€œIf I believe I get an A+ in all areas of my lifeā€”my body, friends, work, what I eat or wearā€”what would I do today?ā€

  • The one requirement for this exercise is to suspend judgment and believe you have an A+ in all areas of your life.
  • Write down your answers.
  • Remember, you already have an A+ and this allows you to write freely about your own thoughts and feelings.

What do you have to lose? Maybe some misery, self-loathing, and irritability! What do you have to gain? Self-assurance, confidence, and breathing room!

Engage with the world from a place of worthiness, believe you get an A+ in all areas of your life, and see the opportunities you have been missing.
